Elder Candidate
Biography
Name is David Larson. I am 67 years of age.. I'm married to Patrice or Patty as she is known. Patty and I have been married six years. I was previously married for 26 years to my two sons' mother whose name was Tammy. She passed away in 2017 from brain cancer. My sons are David and Nathan. One is 30 the other 28. David is the oldest. He is married to Cierra and they have one child. 19 month old male named Carter. They have a second child on the way who is expected to be born on or around June 24th. Carter's birthday is the 15th of June.
I was born and raised in Montana and still like to call it home even though I don't live there.
After high school I moved a number of times working different jobs. I went to college at the University of Montana ten years after I graduated from high school. I received a degree in public administration, a minor in history and an emphasis in pre law. I was slated to start law school the spring following my graduation but decided not to at the last minute. Wanting to wait a year. I never went back. Around the same time I got married to Tammy and we started a family living in Spokane WA. Over the next decade worked for an individual who was exceptionally wealthy having businesses in 17 different countries. I was his Guy Friday. I traveled the United States and the world extensively but missed a lot of birthdays and wedding anniversaries. While sitting at an exclusive resort in Johannesburg South Africa I realized I was missing my family’s life. I left that job, bought a business in Oregon, and moved my family. The economic collapse 2 years later made it difficult to maintain a business. I closed the business and went to work for Apple and then Facebook.
In January of 2013 I began classes for a master's degree in professional counseling. Because of some medical issues and surgeries as well as my wife's 19 month battle with cancer, I was unable to complete my schooling until 2019. I then began practicing mental health counseling. In 2021 I began my second Master’s degree in Mental health and Wellness with emphasis in Christian ministry. I completed that in 2023. In the winter of 2024 I began my 3rd master’s degree in Christian Ministry and Theology. I will be completing that third Masters degree in June of 2026.
Along with my five years of work as a professional therapist I spent many years in pastoral care teaching parenting classes and facilitating groups and individual mentoring for men involved in sexual addiction issues.
I was raised in the Catholic Church. I was an altar boy. I did all of the two-week summer school sessions and Tuesday night catechisms growing up. I became a born again in 1984 while living in San Antonio TX. I struggled with that new existence for a couple of years until I started attending a non-denominational church and my transformation started and has been a continued experience of highs and lows emotionally but one of joy and spiritual prosperity.
As a family (Wife Patty and younger son Nathan), we have been attending RCC for almost 3 years. I was invited and entered into elder candidacy and training approximately 18 months ago. I am honored and humbled by this calling and encouraged by how God will manifest Himself in my life and RCC through this ministry..
